Hastelloy C22 or Alloy C22 is an all-purpose austenitic grade alloy. ASTM B574 UNS N06022 consists of metals like nickel, chromium, molybdenum, and tungsten that combine to form their chemical content. The high chromium content provides UNS N06022 Bar with good resistance when exposed to oxidizing media. Minor additions of molybdenum and tungsten in the Alloy C22 Round Bar provide good resistance in reducing media. These Alloy C22 Round Bars (UNS N06022) can easily be cold-worked because of its ductility and cold-forming is the preferred method of forming. Alloy C22 Rods has shown an outstanding resistance to a wide range of chemicals, including chlorides, organic and inorganic solutions.

Hastelloy C22 further resists other corrosive media, including oxidizing acid chlorides, wet chlorine, ferric and cupric chlorides, formic and acetic acids, brine, and seawater. Additionally, this alloy exhibits resistance to a vast number of mixed or contaminated chemical solutions, both organic and inorganic in nature.

The nickel content of the Hastelloy C22 Round Bar creates opposition to grain-boundary precipitates in the weld heat-affected zone; this makes the alloy suitable for most of the chemical process applications in the as-welded condition. The Hastelloy C22 round bar should not be used in service applications above 1250°F because above this temperature, detrimental phases form. This alloy is solution annealed and worked in different temperature ranges from 1750°F - 2050°F, which is then rapidly cooled.

Due to the Hastelloy C22 Bar cooling at an accelerated rate, it should prevent the formation of injurious phases within the temperature range between 1400°F 1800°F. Being ductile, Hastelloy C22 can also be formed by cold working, though intermediate annealing might be required because of work hardening. Annealing is done between a temperature range of 2020°F - 2150°F, followed by rapid quench. Hastelloy C22 Rod can be welded by gas tungsten-arc, gas metal-arc, and shielded metal-arc processes.
